Far Fetched Productions History & Mission Statement

Far Fetched Productions began in Toronto in 1991 founded by Brenda McFarlane.  The mandate of Far Fetched Productions is to create vital, popular theatre that is accessible, meaningful and enjoyable to the modern audience.   The company believes that revitalizing live theatre requires a commitment to the exquisite energy of live performers and that each artist’s voice and passion plays a fundamental role in the creation of world-changing theatre.  This principle wins Far Fetched Productions critical success, kudos from avid theatergoers and, most importantly, popularity with the general public.

Collaboration is the key to the company’s success.  Performers in a Far Fetched Production are full-fledged participating artists and leadership in the company requires the ability to work collaboratively, to engage actors’ passion and commitment to a play’s message, and to ensure that the performers energy is brought to the stage.  Company rehearsals and performances, under the guidance of artistic director Brenda McFarlane, are creatively vibrant, flexible, exploratory experiences with an evolved sense of artistic authority and responsibility.  Many artists claim that involvement in a McFarlane production is one of the most artistically satisfying experiences of their careers.

McFarlane’s love for the theatrical process and for the artists involved reverberates throughout her work and is no doubt a large reason Far Fetched Productions enjoys such success.   Below is a list of company productions and excerpts from reviews.
